Welcome to the
Department of Geology:
Our department is located in the new Natural Science and
Mathematics Complex on the University's North Campus in suburban Amherst,
set on 1,200 acres of land with woods and lakes. The building houses instructional
areas, research laboratories, faculty offices and administrative facilities.
The department offers an Undergraduate B.A. in Geology,
as well as a minor, and offers Graduate programs leading to M.A. and Ph.D.
degrees in Geology. The department has active programs in environmental
geology, and volcanology.
