Surficial vs Regional Aquifers
Back ] Home ]

Toth's Analysis of Flow Systems:  Local surficial systems are superimposed on regional deeper systems.  Deeper systems may be unconsolidated (e.g. alluvial basins) or consolidated (e.g. bedrock).  In environmental geology, we are usually concerned with the surficial systems because they are most vulnerable to point source contamination.
