Fluvial Aquifers as a Resource

Fluvial Aquifers as a Resource:  Fluvial aquifers can be quite productive, but are intimately connect to surface water.  In humid climates base flow from the aquifer normally recharges the stream,  although this flow may be reversed in time of drought.  In arid climates, streams may constantly be recharging the fluvial aquifer, except during and shortly after storm event.  If a stream flowing over a fluvial aquifer becomes polluted, it usually also degrades the quality of the ground water.
